Third-Grade Teacher

Working at Covenant

Covenant Classical School, a K-8 classical Christian school in Naperville, IL, is seeking a third-grade teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess a gift for teaching, a vibrant Christian faith, and experience with an appreciation for the classical model of education.

What skills are highly valued in teachers that we hire?

Covenant’s classical and Christian philosophy of education requires teachers to be part of building our students’ academic foundation by providing instruction in the academic disciplines through the lens of a Christian worldview, while also helping students understand the foundational truths of the historic Christian faith.

We value teachers who are able and willing to implement the best practices of classical schooling including direct instruction and deeper level questioning, while preparing engaging lessons and managing the classroom in a way that builds a community of grace.

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • A master's degree and/or prior teaching experience is preferred.

Job Description

Covenant Classical School is seeking a 3rd-grade teacher to instruct students in all subjects in our classical curriculum (with the exception of Latin, art, music, physical education, and speech/drama).

The successful candidate will join our professional learning community of faculty dedicated to the school’s mission and one another’s personal and professional growth.  Prior experience teaching in a classical school is very helpful but not essential. A resonance with our classical and Christian philosophy of education, a commitment to direct instruction using engaging methods, and a willingness to learn and grow as a classical, Christian educator is essential.

The position is full time. The compensation includes a salary and the benefits of top-tier health, dental, and vision insurance along with the opportunity participation in a 401K program with employer matching.

We encourage anyone interested in this position to send a current resume and cover letter to Dr. Tom Stoner, head of school, ([email protected]) to arrange a preliminary conversation.
