Logic School Humanities: English and History
(beginning August, 2021)
What skills are highly valued in teachers that we hire?
Covenant’s classical and Christian philosophy of education requires teachers to be part of building our students’ academic foundation by providing instruction in the academic disciplines through the lens of a Christian worldview, while also helping students understand the foundational truths of the historic Christian faith.
We value teachers who are able and willing to implement the best practices of classical schooling including direct instruction and deeper level questioning, while preparing engaging lessons and managing the classroom in a way that builds a community of grace.
This full-time position will teach all aspects of English literature, grammar, and writing combined with history (two periods each day) to grades 7 and 8. The teacher will work closely with our 5th and 6th-grade humanities teacher to implement our distinctive curriculum and prepare our students to read widely, think deeply, and write well.
Preference is always given to teachers with experience teaching in a classical school, but we are always willing to train the right candidate in classical philosophy and pedagogy, provided the candidate’s educational background, professional experience, and personal convictions resonate with our distinctive approach, they are teachable, and ready to work hard.
In all cases, the first step toward joining Covenant’s faculty is to send a resume and cover letter to Dr. Tom Stoner, Head of School ([email protected]).
Compensation is commensurate with experience and full-time positions include the benefits of individual health, dental, and vision insurance and a 401K retirement matching program.
