Alumnus Spotlight: Jimmy

August 21, 2020

We love our alumni–near and far!  Over the past decade, Covenant has said farewell to much-loved students who are now carrying their experiences and the foundation they received at Covenant into their high school years, college years, and beyond.

Where are they now?  Look for our alumni features in the coming months!

Meet our Covenant Alumnus, Jimmy!

High School:  Benet Academy

College: Stanford University, Engineering

Covenant is delighted to honor Jimmy as one of our featured alumni students this month.  After his time at Covenant, Jimmy went on to graduate high school from Benet Academy.

“An important aspect of classical education is that it encourages a breadth of interests and thus develops students who seek to understand the world holistically.”

During his college years, he attended Stanford University where he studied management science and engineering, along with classics and computer science.  While at Stanford he was part of the leadership team for RUF (Reformed University Fellowship), an undergraduate Christian community which was integral to his spiritual growth in college.  At the start of his senior year, he worked alongside a group of students to organize weekly worship services, small group gatherings, and quarterly retreats.

Jimmy recently graduated from Stanford with a major in engineering and will be moving to New York City to begin his career in management consulting.

When asked to reflect upon his time at Covenant, Jimmy shared, “The classical education that I received instilled in me a love for the humanities that remains with me to this day.  Although I majored in engineering at Stanford, I also studied classics, focusing on Roman literature and archaeology.  I think an important aspect of classical education is that it encourages a breadth of interests and thus develops students who seek to understand the world holistically.”

Let’s continue to keep Jimmy (and all of our alumni) in our prayers as they navigate new chapters in their lives beyond Covenant.
