Each Monday morning, a circle of faithful Covenant parents gathers in a small room just off the sanctuary. This group is humble and quiet, but they are mighty. Theirs is a holy mission and a vital aspect of Covenant’s life. They have come together to pray.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests…and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
– Ephesians 6:18
This ministry began at Covenant’s inception, when a small group of moms met together in their homes to build a foundation of prayer for our fledgling school. Since that time they have been meeting weekly for a time of thanksgiving and intercession. Following the structure set in place by the Moms in Prayer organization, these parents pray for our students, our school, and our community as a whole. They lift up needs and sing out praise. They read Scripture and pray God’s word over each member of the faculty, staff, and board by name. They pray also for our host church and for other schools in our community, that God’s word might be proclaimed not just at Covenant, but across our city.
Not every person who attends speaks their prayers aloud, but the unspoken prayers of the heart are just as powerful. Scripture assures us that where two or three are gathered in Jesus’ name, He is present with them. This is certainly true each week as these parents come together to join their hearts in praise and supplication.
