Covenant is seeking a full-time Latin teacher for middle and high school beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Our approach to Latin emphasizes reading and grammatical understanding. The scope and sequence of the curriculum introduces language and culture through narrative but also features grammar exercises and sections on Roman history and mythology. The school will provide the Latin teacher with the necessary training and support to help them implement the materials in ways that help students gain knowledge and mastery at each grade level.
In addition to regular classes, Covenant students enjoy a Latin club and competitive Certamen team that meets for one hour weekly during the school day and includes several after-school meets during the year. The Latin teacher sponsors this club, which is also supported by strong student leaders.
A bachelor’s degree in Latin, Classics, Ancient Languages, or a related field is desired (and a master’s degree is preferred). Teaching experience at the secondary level is also strongly desired. Successful candidates will resonate with the classical and Christian approach to schooling, have a teachable spirit and a readiness to work hard and to collaborate with others, and demonstrate a love for Christ and students.
We value teachers who are able and willing to implement, or learn to implement, the best practices of classical, Christian schooling. This includes direct instruction and deeper level questioning while also preparing engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and managing the classroom in a way that builds a community of grace. We are eager to welcome to our team teachers who are passionate about educating and who model the joy and humility we seek to cultivate among our students.
We would love to hire experienced educators with a classical schooling background, but we are also willing to train the right candidates in classical philosophy and pedagogy.
