The Open Doors Campaign

A Permanent Home for Our Christian, Classical Mission

A God-Given Opportunity

For several years, Covenant has actively sought a permanent home as part of our vision to provide families in our region with exceptional Christian, classical schooling, while growing the school to a flourishing size of 350+ students.

Last March, we were given the opportunity to purchase the four-acre campus near downtown Naperville where we have leased space for the last four years. This campus has become a beloved home for our community. It has two buildings designed as schools with a combined total of 24 large classrooms, a small gym and auditorium, and attractive outdoor play spaces. Owning this campus will open new doors for the formation of generations of students in our region. We immediately recognized the opportunity was God-given.

We launched the Open New Doors campaign to raise the $3M we need in order to take hold of this opportunity. The good news is that, thanks to the generosity of our community, we’re already more than halfway there! We have until November 30 to reach our goal, and, just as a football team comes together at the goal line to push forward, it will take all of us to make this purchase happen.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much money is the campaign targeting to raise?

With the generosity of the Covenant community, we have raised $1.9M since we launched the campaign earlier this year. We were given an extension until November 30, 2026 to raise additional funds. In order to complete the purchase, we need to increase this total to at least $3M. Our overall goal is to raise the complete purchase price of $4.55M.

What makes this campus a good fit for Covenant?

Covenant’s board of trustees and leadership have searched for properties since fall 2018, and they have made offers on multiple properties. The following factors convince them this is the right opportunity at this important time:

  • Covenant has leased space at this location for 4 years, so no move is required.‌
  • There is relatively little capital expenditure required after purchase.‌
  • There are no zoning obstacles or special use permits required.‌
  • The purchase price of $4.55M is less than half the cost required to purchase a property and construct‌‌ similar buildings.‌
  • The location near downtown Naperville gives the school an asset that will appreciate over time.‌
  • There may be opportunity for short-term rental income after purchase.
  • The purchase will provide space to more than double current enrollment.

How is classical schooling different from other schools?

The classical school movement is a return to what had proven effective for centuries until the early 20th century when new ideas began to reshape what children learn and how they learn it. The specially designed curriculum teaches mastery of the English language through phonics, grammar, cursive writing, Latin, formal logic, dialogue, and an emphasis upon how to write clearly and well. It emphasizes a conceptual approach to mathematics and the foundational ideas of science, and it is intentional about teaching students the ideas, events, and great works that have shaped western civilization. Students not only learn but also learn to love learning, and their preparation for the future is striking. Today the number of classical schools across America is surging and approaching 2,000 schools.
