Developing Kindergarten Readiness Skills

Covenant’s junior kindergarten program is a play-based kindergarten readiness program designed to cultivate a love for learning and build confidence for kindergarten.

Drawing on classical pedagogy, the program provides hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to develop social skills in a Christ-centered, gracious learning environment.

ACADEMIC READINESS

Identifying colors, numbers, letters (and sounds); following sequential instructions; identifying shapes and patterns; and more!

SOCIAL SKILLS

Learning to cooperate and share with others, communicating needs, obeying rules, and respecting others.

EMOTIONAL SKILLS

Learning flexibility, focus, and independence as well as how to respond and interact with peers and adults.

PHYSICAL SKILLS

Coordinating large and small muscle groups, using scissors and gripping pencils correctly, and caring for personal needs.

Students who turn 4 before September 1 may apply for the program.

Junior Kindergarten Schedule

Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Drop off: 8:00-8:10, late start Wednesdays, 8:30-8:40

Choose: Half day, 11:30 dismissal, or Full day, 2:45 dismissal
