In the next several years, Covenant anticipates relocating to a permanent facility, doubling our grades of K-8, and adding grades 11-12. Our vision is for a comprehensive Rhetoric school program (grades 9-12) with 40 students per grade so the opportunities for upper-level instruction will significantly multiply in coming years. If being part of this unfolding vision resonates with you, we encourage you to inquire.
The successful candidates will have a resonance with our classical and Christian philosophy of education, a teachable and collaborative spirit, a readiness to work hard, and a love for Christ and students.
Preference is always given to teachers with experience teaching in a classical school, but we are also always willing to train the right candidates in classical philosophy and pedagogy, provided that the candidate’s educational background, professional experience, and personal convictions resonate with our distinctive approach, they are teachable, and ready to work hard.
Covenant is seeking an approximately Half-Time Humanities Teacher for the middle or high school grades (or both) with the possibility of future expansion of course load.
The teacher must have a passion for helping students develop the mastery of language arts and historical thinking skills, all while fostering critical and Christian thinking within the framework of viewing all knowledge and experience through the lens of Scripture.
Background with the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) is a plus. The teacher’s special areas of interest or expertise might include, but are not limited to, U.S. history and government and American literature, rhetoric and public speaking, debate, and/or British literature.
Priority will be given to candidates with experience in classroom instruction at the middle and/or high school level.
We encourage anyone interested in this position to send a current resume and cover letter to Tom Stoner, Head of School ([email protected]), and to Katrina Combs, Upper School Dean ([email protected]) to arrange an introductory meeting.
